update

praise: the photographer called saturday to let me know that because of the problems, they are going to give me three free sheets, plus a photo membership card good for 2 years!  that was a blessing. now it won't cost me extra to take the kids individually-therefore i won't have as much chaos.

prayer: please pray that landon remains healthy as he goes to vbs every day this week. he has his surgery a week from today.

playfulness: doctors still don't have my test results back. hopefully this afternoon.

news of the day: DALTON ROLLED OVER LAST NIGHT!!!! i found him on his belly and very upset at 3 this morning. he rolled from his back to his front. landon rolled that way first, too. i'm predicting that dalton will be mobile by christmas, probably even thanksgiving.

no news

praise: ed's memorial service was done in such a way that showed much planning and thought went into praising God. ed would have loved it-as that was his goal in life as well. ed will definitely be missed.

prayer: please continue to pray for Kelley, Aiden and Kya.

our church's Vacation Bible School is this coming week. please be in prayer for the many children who will attend and hear the Gospel. landon will even be attending this year. he is looking foward to it.

my friend lisa is expecting baby number 2 any day now. please pray that her delivery and recovery go well.

playfulness: we did not get the results back from my blood work yet. i was told to call back on monday.

it was good to see a lot of high school friends last night. we definitely don't do that enough.

we are embarking on a new adventure around the house this week. we are going to try to get the kids to have only one toy/set of toys out at a time. this should be very interesting. i'm sure it will take a great deal of attention from me to get this off the ground. i did not grow up this way-so it will be new to me, too. we always played, and then had pick up time where we picked up all of our toys. dave had a good point that it may help the kids learn to focus on one thing at a time. maybe it will help me, too!!!! =) please pray that i will not give up in this effort.

photo studio

praise: our power is on.

prayer: i've not been feeling too well lately. i think i need to adjust my eating habits. wondering if i have sugar issues. had blood work done yesterday-we'll get the results back tomorrow.

playfulness: took the kids to get their pictures done today. i will NOT be doing that again for a long, long time. i get so frustrated trying to do the pictures at home because i do not have the necessary equipment to make the lighting turn out correctly-and i don't have many back drop options. but, i think i still can handle it a little better than the chaos that comes with taking individual pics of three kids in a studio. anyway...after being charged for a free 8x10 and being given internet privileges of the wrong pictures...i hope i end up liking the pics i chose. if you want to be sent the internet pics-leave a comment with your email address and i'll get the pics to you as soon as they get them to me. sorry this post should be under a heading called "poutiness" instead of "playfulness". i just wish i could get some good, frameable pics of my kids.

good baby

praise: kids are still healthy (although auburn is cranky).

prayer: please continue to pray for the horn family.

playfulness: dalton is such a good baby. last night he slept from 9 until 3:30. he woke up, nursed and went right back asleep until 6:45. i wished my other kids would do that-but they never did. i'm getting spoiled. no complaints.

ed

prayer: please be in prayer for the horn family. my friend ed just went to meet his Savior. praise the Lord that he is no longer in pain.

root beer

praise: we were all able to go to church today, for all of the services. it was very nice.

prayer: please remember my friend, Ed, and his family. he is expected to pass away sometime in the next few days. especially remember his wife, Kelley, and their two children, Aiden and Kya. www.edhorn.info

playfulness: auburn has decided that she really likes root beer. her comments to dave were, "like it. love it. keep it" earlier in the day she said "have beer." we had to laugh at that.

yesterday, auburn had done something mischevious (i don't remember what), and i said to her "my daughter did that. do you know who that is?" her response was classic-"yeah, landon."

dalton found his thumb tonight. i put him in his crib/cage at church (our church cribs look like kennels) and he popped his thumb in for a good sucking. i've seen him suck his fist many times-but he had never figured out how to get his thumb loose from the fist before. cute, but dangerous-i know.

cutie kids

praise: kids are still healthy. please continue to pray that they stay that way. my parents gave us one of their twin beds (for auburn) that was in derek's room.

prayer: please remember to pray for landon's upcoming surgery. also, please continue to pray for my friend ed, www.edhorn.info

playfulness: landon had blueberries and a cheese sandwich for lunch a few days ago. he came up with the idea of putting the blueberries in his sandwich. he claims that it was very good.

i decided to repaint auburn's room this week. we didn't change the color much (went a little lighter shade of blue). the marks and scratches on the walls were annoying me. the arrival of the twin bed was a good motivator. i didn't want to set it up until the walls were done. auburn slept in her toddler bed in landon's room for a few nights until i got to the painting. i started taping at 10pm wednesday night, and finished at 2am thursday morning. talk about whirlwind re-dos, but i've found that is the best way for me to do it. here are pics.

the holly hobby bedspread and doll were mine when i was auburn's age (possibly even the bed-my sister had a matching one-so i have no idea which one was mine. the beds were originally my mom's and her sister's).

got to love bath hair-dos!

we found auburn reading to peach and plum one morning.

while i was reading auburn a goodnight story, i had dalton resting at the end of the bed. i rested with auburn for a moment, and this is how i found the little man when i sat up.

he loves to scoot!!!  =)

this last picture is just to show how big he is-as if you all needed more convincing. the shirt is a 12mo. granted it's a small 12mo., but still.....he is only 2.5 months.

my cutie patooties

praise: we were all able to go to church today!!!

prayer: please pray that the kids remain healthy.

playfulness: i don't have much time, but i had to share these pics.

aren't they cute!!!!

auburn has been having a hard time sleeping recently. we frequently find her on the floor in her room.

dalton thinks he should be moving already. he is desparately trying to roll over.

not only is he trying to roll, but he's already scooting on his back.

Impressive as all of that is-here is my all time favorite pic of the little man so far.

What a cutie!!!!!

post number 4

playfulness: i was just looking through previous posts when i noticed i forgot to make a comment about a picture that i posted on the 5th-so i'll post it again and comment.

please notice landon's shoes... i will have you know that he asked to wear them like this (different styles and both the right foot). i have no idea why he wanted to do it, but he really wanted too. i started to tell him no-because i have a hard time letting my kids look silly-but then i remembered what it was like to be a kid. you sometimes just want to do weird things. was this going to hurt him? absolutely not-but he sure did have fun doing it and it gave my family a great laugh. not to mention a great picture for his senior graduation party board!!!! ha, ha! =)

have a great night-and may tomorrow bring many more laughs!

old pictures

praise: dalton and auburn are doing much better today. we might even get to go to church this sunday!!!! =)

prayer: please continue to pray for the kids' health. they've been so sick this year-it would be nice if this streak ended.

playfulness: this entry will feature mostly dalton and dave. i finally resized some of dave's pics from when he was little. enjoy. also, check out the new poll.

dalton and daddy were playing the other night. dalton was doing a great job of holding his head up. he was giving daddy some pretty good smiles, too.

yesterday, dalton was fascinated by his sister. she was making funny faces at him, which made him smile big.

he did a great job sitting in his exersaucer.

here's a pic of him trying to sit up straight. got to love the face.

auburn was happy to be holding the little bugger. (unfortunately, he wasn't happy to be held.)

here are the pics of dave. in these next few-i think dalton really looks like him.

i can really see auburn in this one. just put longer hair on dave and there you have her. i just asked auburn who this was a picture of-her response "auburn."

k, for the rest of the pictures-you be the judge and then vote in the poll.

dave is the baby in this next one.

surprise! surprise!

praise: the weatherization inspector came today. yeah!!! another step closer to getting our house insulated and fixed up a bit. he said it could be anywhere from 3 to 12 months before the work is done though.

prayer: dalton and auburn are still coughing and dealing with a lot of drainage. please pray that they will heal completely.

playfulness: my sweet, thoughtful husband threw me a surprise b-day party tonight. i was totally surprised. my parents, siblings and their partners all pitched in to help. thanks everyone!!!

here's the picture of the bench (thanks for reminding me, brenda).

auburn and landon were giving each other fish faces today. funny, funny.

i was informed by landon's sunday school teachers that he destroys markers. so...we got the markers out and practiced using them on a big sheet of red paper. kids had a lot of fun. what we didn't know was that after you stood up from sitting on the paper, you would have marker stain on your body. i had a mirror image of the word mommy on my leg when i stood up. i had sat where i wrote our names, and received a "tattoo" from it.

landon enjoyed tracing his own hand. auburn even let him trace her hand.

here's a picture of landon's sun. he was putting a face in it, with a goatee.

guess all of the excitement wore her out.

hide and seek

praise: auburn and dalton seem to be on the mend.

prayer: i am really working on getting the kids and i on some sort of a schedule. please pray that as we begin the routine i have planned out, that i will be disciplined enough to stick to it. my house is out of control and i have added to my avon business enough that i need to be organized with everything else to stay sane.

playfulness: i turned 30 today!!!!! no, i am not flustered by this-i'm excited. i feel that i have earned that age. it's not nice going to the grocery store and people asking how i could possibly have three kids. i emphatically tell them my age, and tell them that i've been married 7 years. maybe now that i'm thirty, i'll at least look old enough to have 3.

auburn was hiding in closets and cupboards the other day. i went to throw something in her laundry hamper and about jumped out of my skin-i wasn't expecting to find someone in her closet. she got me good, without even trying.

gotta go. need to go put my park bench together that my parents bought me for our front porch. maybe tomorrow i'll post a picture.

blessings in disguise

praise: dave is off the next two days. dalton's cold seems to be clearing.

prayer: auburn is still sick. landon is scheduled for surgery on the 7th of August to have his tonsils and adenoids out. i must admit, this frightens me a bit.

playfulness: so much to tell. first off-why the title of this blog? the blessing in disguise has been auburn's sickness. while sick-she isn't destructive. soo... no changing of messy diapers, no piles of wipes in the living room, no water dumped all over the bathroom floor.... you get the picture.

last thursday, i walked out of the kitchen, picked up my phone and answered it, walked back in the kitchen and found auburn with her diaper off. i spoke to her, mentioned one more thing to the person on the phone, then she wetted the bench that she was standing on (and the floor, and her legs...) blessings...

last friday i was making a pie. i had just put the bottom crust in the plate, and-no joke-turned around for 5 to 7 seconds, only to look back at my crust and find a large hole out of the middle of it. i'm sure you can figure which one of my children would do such a thing at this stage of life.

landon had an interesting day today. we met up with one of my high school friends to let the kids play in the big fountain in flat rock (of course, it wasn't working today). i sent landon back to the van (25 feet away) to change out of his swim trunks. when i went to check on him, i noticed a big wet spot outside of the van. landon pointed at it and informed me that he had used the bathroom there. he had stood in the van door and did his thing onto the parking lot...-even better, this was the library parking lot. can you imagine walking out of a public library and looking up, only to see a little boy relieving himself? what would you think of that kid's mother?!? =)

dalton had his 2 month checkup on monday. here are his measurements: 14 lbs. 6 oz. 24 inches long. yes, he is bigger than landon was at this point-very scary-how big is he going to be?!?

now for pictures...

dalton is wearing an outfit that the radfords bought landon. (landon was named after pete radford).

while down in ohio we were able to celebrate the kids b-days with mom and jon. jon gave the kids curious george monkeys and a curious george story collection book. we've read from it many times. here's pics.

here's a pic of uncle jon and dalton.

auburn received an outfit from my grandmother.

here's a pic of my dad and the grandkids-auburn wasn't willing to participate in the group shot.

we had star donuts yesterday from krispy kreme. you'll enjoy these pics of auburn and then a closeup of her hands.

and now for pics of today-thanks to my friend jen. the little girl is her daughter, jenna.

have a great evening!!!!
