going home

sorry i haven't blogged in a while. we've been in ohio since last tuesday. dave's father passed away last monday (24th) around 1:30. the funeral was last thursday (27th). it was nice for me to hear the testimonies of the people that dad influenced.

praise: we made it home safely from ohio. the Lord has provided funds for us to travel.

prayer: please pray for dave's family during this difficult time. dave will be traveling back and forth between here and columbus on the weekends for the next few months. please pray for his safety. i think auburn has another ear infection-taking her to the doctor tonight.

playfulness: when you ask landon where "papa mm-mm-good" is he says "he's with Jesus".

i put auburn's hair in pig-tails today. very cute!!!

just remembered

i just remembered an incident from a few days ago regarding landon and grandpa smith. landon and i were eating lunch when landon said "mm, mm, good, that's what papa says!" i almost cried, knowing that dad is not doing very well. landon will surely miss him if he goes home to be with the Lord.

letter f

praise: dave made it safely to ohio.

prayer: continue to pray for dave's dad and family. the next few days are going to be difficult has they need to make some tough decisions.

playfulness: today, landon wrote a capital "F" all by himself without any instruction. he blurted out "mom, i made a f!" and it was PERFECT!

auburn has discovered that if she tilts her head from side to side and smiles-mom will do it, too. it's now her favorite thing to do during meal time. quite a cute little game!

me and my shadow

praise: our friend, ted benny, was able to get our hood open after it became stuck when dave checked the oil.

prayer: dave is in ohio. family doctor told mom this morning that they would have to start making some hard decisions concerning dad at the beginning of next week if there isn't more improvement.

playfulness: auburn found her shadow today. she stood (i was holding her up) and "played" with it and an intense spot of light for about 5 to 10 minutes. it was very cute to see her and hear her get excited about it. she's becoming more mobile every day. still not crawling, but scooting more and more.

good news

praise: we finally were able to purchase a vehicle. it is a 2000 pontiac montana. fully loaded with leather interiors and a power sliding door (which will be wonderful when i'm out shopping with the kids). we were able to get it for less than we bought our toyota corolla for 3 years ago! praise the Lord!

also, doctors were able to get the top part of dad's lungs clear last night. there is still much to happen before he can come home from the hospital, but we rejoice in this progress.

prayer: continue to pray for dad's recovery.

playfulness: i made pepperoni rolls yesterday. landon was asking for one as soon as he saw them. once he finally got it, he took all of the pepperoni out and ate the bread and cheese. he did the same thing today at lunch.

dave's dad update

praise: dave made it home safely last night.

prayer: Dave's father, Robert Smith, is critically ill in Columbus, Ohio. Currently he is in an induced coma and on a ventilator. Half of his heart is not functioning properly, his kidneys have stopped working, and he has a disease that cannot be cured in one of his lungs. Earlier this week the doctors were optimistic about recovery, but recent events have seemed to indicate otherwise. Please pray for the family and doctors as they make hard decisions over the next few days.

we are still in need of a vehicle. looking at one at 3 this afternoon.

playfulness: landon tried to put his sweater on by himself this morning. he came into the kitchen for help-it was inside out and twisted, with his head and one arm through the head hole. wish i had taken a picture! yesterday he put both of his socks on by himself.

dave's dad

praise: nothing is ever outside God's control.

prayer: dad's kidneys are not working properly and the doctors are pretty sure that he has a blood clot in his lungs. he is still sedated and on a ventilator. dave is coming home today and hopefully we'll be going to purchase a vehicle tonight.

playfulness: landon loves to sit with dave's guitar and sing "you've got a friend in me" from toy story and "do-re-mi" from sound of music. it's very cute.

much growth

praise: the Lord is always in control!!!!

prayer: dave's dad is in the icu in columbus, ohio. he has double pnuemonia along with a few other undetermined problems. right now he is on a ventilator, but stable.

our car is dead. we are in the process of looking for a vehicle. the Lord is good and is working things out. we were able to borrow my sister's second car for the weekend, and dave is driving down to ohio in my parent's car (since they are on their way to chicago for the next three days). i'm looking forward to seeing how the Lord is going to provide and take care of these immediate difficulties that we are experiencing.

both kids have been sick this weekend, but are doing much better today.

playfulness: auburn had another tooth break through this morning. she is still working on two others.

rolling over

praise: we were given another large gift of money. we may be able to get a new vehicle. it's such a blessing to see how the Lord always times everything perfectly (dying car-financial blessings).

prayer: my brother is having some problems with the root canal that he had done yesterday. he had it done on the tooth that he had knocked out during his baseball game four years ago.

playfulness: auburn finally rolled from her back to her tummy two days ago. she's now trying to figure crawling out. she can either get her back end up or her front up, but not both together.

today, auburn picked up a fruit puff between her thumb and first finger and fed herself. it was the first time she has ever used that grasp.

professor quigley on the letter factory says "needs salt" when he eats some popcorn. a few nights ago, we were eating something sweet at the kitchen table and landon paused and said "needs salt." at this moment, he is standing on a clothing bin that i brought into the living room and holding up his bat as an umbrella. he is trying to get up in the air like the "u" letters do on the letter factory.
