praise: we all went to church yesterday!!!
prayer: my friend's house was broken into on friday. the theives took everything imaginable. please pray for their family as they pick up the pieces and assess the damage.
playfulness: landon ate a whole can of tuna for lunch today!!! now i like tuna-but not that much. i had mixed the tuna up with some miracle whip for sandwiches expecting it to last at least 2 days. he ate 2 sandwiches, then while i was out of the room, he finished off what was left in the bowl. i fully expected him to blow chunks later, but so far he hasn't. thankfully.
i found a funny shirt for landon the other day. here's a pic.
dave and i have had some discussion about what is being said by it. is it saying "my sister is not only for sale-she is being offered for free" or is it saying "i was going to give my sister away-but i've decided not to" or in a totally different vein, should this have been in the girls section instead of the boys saying "no to selling or giving me away". you be the judge. leave a comment with what you think.
dalton's teeth are completely through and quite high. here's a picture of his toothy grin.
i guess you can't see them real well, but they are there on the bottom. i'll try for a better shot later.
auburn went with daddy to the lincoln park library and brought home a chipmunk puppet. to be honest, i took the picture more because i liked here outfit than because of the puppet.
i finally am posting dalton's cereal pictures.
he even grabbed the spoon from me to feed himself.
older two kids have started making their own beds. here's their attempts. not bad.
we made sugar cookies last week. here's the masterpieces.
we are trying to sell our toddler sized car bed. if you know anyone who would be interested in purchasing it, let me know.
well, i gotta go. landon just came downstairs with a nasty cough, complaining of a sore throat. hope it doesn't stick around long. have a great day.

praise: kids seem to be feeling better. landon hasn't been hit with the virus yet-maybe the tonsil thing is doing what the doctor said it would!!!!
prayer: please pray that we do not have a year like last year as far as health goes.
playfulness: tonight is all about landon. he had his moments of meeting uncle rod, but he also had good moments. last week in ss-he colored a paper about helping. one of the pictures was a little boy setting the table. while i was making supper, landon brought out his paper and asked "can i do the napkins like the boy in this picture?" i told him "no." (NOT!!!!-why would i turn down help!?!) he is now my official table setter.
also tonight, we were working on his wednesday night Bible verse (John 3:16). he learned it in about 10 minutes-i was very impressed. he even called papa to tell him. anyway-the funny associated with this accomplishment- he said "gave his only rotten son..." that was corrected! =)
ponderings: okay, so i know i've left this section out quite a bit. shows how deep my mental capacity is!!!! =) anyway, i've been doing the Bible study that the ladies at our church did during the summer. it's taking me a lot longer to get through it-not uncommon that i get interrupted by children waking up early from their naps. man-talk about getting hit with how selfish i am. one of the first things that hit me was-how can i be teaching my children to obey-if i'm not even obeying and having my "Bible time". i'm not obeying-how can i expect them to? it's just been one thing after another. i'm thankful for the reminders/rebukes, but it's painful. i'm not sure where i'm even going with this (it is only 1am). i guess-i'm realizing how much i expect others to act in a disciplined manner, and then i don't do so in my own life-whether it be devotions, household responsibilities, weight control, relationships, etc. how are you doing? who's controlling your life-you with God's help? or you and your desires? i know what has been controlling mine, and i'm not proud of it. with God's help, things are going to change.
have a good night-or good morning would be more appropriate!

praise: auburn had a better day today. (had her at the doctor/clinic yesterday-they said she had a virus)
prayer: dalton seems to be coming down with something today. had a little fever today-but not too high.
playfulness: i finally dug out some pictures of my when i was younger. note the new poll!!!! please vote. auburn won the "looks like dave" contest by a landslide (okay, maybe a slight exaggeration-but she did lead over dalton by 8 votes.
i'm not sure of the ages in these pics-i'll put them in the order i think they go in-mom if you see this and see something out of order-let me know!
I think these are three months.
My guess is almost 2.
i know this one is 2.
pretty sure this next one is 3.
I know that you can not see this one well-but i made it as big as i could. i had to throw this in here because of the way i was hiding from everyone. okay, so maybe auburn won't be bashful and afraid forever!
4.
somehow, i missed scanning in my 5 yr. pic. here's 6.
happy voting!

praise: all three kids are down for a nap. my avon business is doing well.
prayer: kids have been sick this week. landon had pink eye, auburn has been running a fever off and on and extremely cranky, and dalton (healthiest of the three) has a little cough.
playfulness: i have so much to post. i wish i could get to this more often-but it isn't working out that way. it's been a big week as far as adventure around here. many moments of firsts and laughs, as well as injuries. you can guess who has had the most in the firsts categories-but how about the injuries?
dalton sat in his high chair for the first time this past week. at times, he really likes it. we will probably start giving him cereal here in the next week or two. doctor said any time between 4 and 6 months was okay with her. i was going to wait until 6 months, but he's always so hungry and he's much bigger than the average 6 mo old, so dave and i decided to start a little earlier.
dalton also sat up for about a minute this week. he wasn't the most upright-but it was a good first attempt.
he loves standing in his exersaucer! he can even reach the toys and make the musical ones play now.
after finding that he can stand-he tries to do it other places, too.
another big accomplishment-he found his toes.
in the next picture, i think his toy won the wrestling match.
auburn is trying to accelerate his learning by giving him his first writing lesson (i laughed when i saw this).
she also likes to give him water (whether in a bottle or cup-it doesn't matter). oh-we have him a cup the other day. no pics of that yet.
view the next picture at your own risk. see the youngest in all his glory.
the older kids decided they needed to sit on daddy's lap along with dalton-too cute.
once lan and aub were in bed, daddy worked his magic again and sent the little man safely to la-la land.
while i'm on the topic of sleep, i might as well post this picture of auburn after our trip home from meijer(s). chirstina-the "s" was for you. we had purchased some tootsie pops and i allowed her to have one after we got in the van.
my neice, jenna, had an apple outfit when she was about 9 months that i loved. i finally found one for auburn-and i must say that she looks adorable in it. the true pig-tails definitely help.
landon has been asking to see my flute for a while now, so we dug it out today. i only have pics of auburn playing it, though.
auburn was the accident prone child this week. i guess she also had a few firsts, as well. her incident that combined both an accident and a first was when she climbed her dresser and pulled it over on herself. i must say, i was quite frightened by her blood-curdling scream and then to find her pinned between her toy basket and the dresser. my mind went spinning out of control as i imagined internal bleeding, broken ribs, etc. thankfully, she only had a sore nose. she managed to injure herself several other times throughout the week. no, i don't have a picture of her under the dresser-this is one situation where i didn't think it wise to run and get the camera before rectifying the problem.
landon received a dinosaur flashlight from the byers when he turned 2. he has recently become interested in it again-although not for the flashlight.
boys will be boys!
last night we went to the elwarts for fellowship and to see the romulus light parade. we've attempted to go the past two years, but our kids have been sick. here are some pics from it.
as thrilling as seeing a bunch of tractors and trucks covered in christmast lights was, the highlight of the night for the kids were the light sticks that were being handed out.
dalton even got in on the action-and yes, he did utilize the taste test several times.
a few of the people at the "party" decided to jump in the parade-here's a pic of pastor tracy riding a child's bike. wish i had gotten a pic of the lovely flowered basket on the front of it. it was a nice addition to his participation.
hope you enjoyed the pictures-always feel free to leave comments so we know who is checking out the site.
Until next week...

praise: all are still healthy.
prayer: dalton had his shots this morning. please pray for his comfort as he was quite cranky for several days after his last set of shots.
my brother is on an antibiotic for the infection on his arm. please pray that it heals quickly.
playfulness: the verdict-dalton is a big boy. not that you're surprised. his official weight is 19lbs. and his length is 27in. this is a little less than one pound more and one inch more than landon landon was at four months. i guess this puts auburn as the "runt" of the group. i hope she stays this way.
i have a number of pictures to post-so you'll have to endure!!
first-dalton's teeth.
i couldn't decide between the next two which to post-so they're both being posted.
landon was playing with dalton-much cuter in person-but here's a shot.
i hope they'll always be this sweet.
sunday night, landon's teacher told me that he took good care of auburn. it was outside play night at church, and i guess as soon as the different classes went outside, landon took auburn's hand and walked with her. we've been telling him since she was born, that it is his responsibility to protect her. he's starting to understand a little.
monday, we went over to my parents house for labor day. here are some pictures.
we roasted marshmallows over the fire pit. landon was hysterical. his first attempt was a disaster. he was too busy talking, and wasn't paying attention to the food. here's the remains.
he tried again and barely cooked them, but at least they weren't flame-broiled.
auburn didn't get into the roasting-but she sure did like the eating part!
i love this next (and last) picture. i'm so thankful that my kids have cousins their age. neither dave nor i had that privilege.
have a great week!!!
