praise: our pastor made it back from his overseas trip. very good and challenging message this morning.
prayer: dave starts teacher orientation in one week. he has much to catch up on before then.
playfulness: in sunday school, we go around and say "good morning,_______" to each of the kids and then the teachers. to keep everyone together we usually count to three and then say it. sometimes we ask the students who is next. well...., dave found landon on his bed with all of his alphabet books laid out saying "1, 2, 3-good morning, 't'! who's next to 't'? 'u'! 1, 2, 3-good morning, 'u'! who's next to 'u'? 'v'!" and so on. he went through the entire alphabet. made me smile. he also liked his "manna" that he brought home today.

praise: auburn has more of her teeth in. her top left molar broke through two days ago.
prayer: one of my friends' water just broke.
playfulness: well, my personal big excitement for the week has been cleaning the large aluminum trash cans at work. i have to crawl inside of them to reach the bottom. someone threw their coffee cup in on sunday and the bag had been punctured-so....there was a coffee mess to clean up. i'm sure i'm quite a sight with the top half of me in the trash can.
now for the kid updates. you'll have to bear with me as this is going to be a long post with many pictures. i've been very bad about blogging recently. i'll do landon's funnies/actions first, then auburn's.
Landon: Landon got stuck in his cloth basketball net two days ago. he walked down the hallway
to ask me to help him get out of it.
landon can be a big helper when he's well rested. he was playing downstairs the other day, and i asked him to get a jar of spaghetti sauce out of the pantry and bring it up. he did so without fussing (and only dropped the jar once!)
if you've read dave's blog, you know that he just received a coffee maker for two from gevalia. landon received the box.
my neice's name is jenna carrine. landon heard someone call her that and asked, "jenna, is your name jenna cuh-ris-pi-an?"
the other day landon decided he wanted to lick my legs. don't ask me why, because i have no idea. i instant messaged dave and told him what landon was doing, and he told me to ask landon if he wanted a doggie bone. landon's response was "yes!" so, we went and grabbed some graham crackers and pretended they were bones. thankfully, that caused him to forget about licking me. it was getting rather old.
landon loves to have his hot dog in a bun. only problem is-he doesn't eat the bun.
auburn:
took auburn to the park the other night-she walked up the structure and went down the slide all by herself. (my heart was pounding as i ran around the structure making sure i was in arm's reach-through the bars-at all times.)
auburn thinks she's a big girl now. she is now sitting in a booster seat at the table. was always trying to get out of her high chair, so we graduated her. along with the booster, she'll probably be moving into a toddler bed pretty soon. she has figured out that if you stack enough stuffed animals up, you have a better chance getting out of the crib. she hasn't made it out yet, but it will come.
this morning, dave went in to get her out of her crib only to find her diaperless and the contents scattered on the floor. glad i was at work!!!!
auburn discovered last week that she loves cream cheese. i was making a dessert for my scrapbook party and she licked the spatula "clean" (unfortunately-she wasn't.)
auburn is daddy's little techie!
auburn has learned to pretend much earlier than landon did. today, landon and auburn were drinking "pop" from her tea set.
auburn doesn't quite know how to use landon's dr. equipment.
she is a good climber though!
a picture of landon and auburn in their birthday outfits from great grandpa and grandma hickox.
landon and auburn in the cars at great lakes crossing.
have a great night!!!!

4 August 2005
praise: the weather was slightly cooler outside tonight. it was already down to 84 in our house by 7. usually it is still over 90 at that time.
prayer: i'm praying for cooler weather tomorrow evening since i'm having a group of ladies over to work on our scrapbooks. i don't want them to be uncomfortable.
playfulness: tonight i was starting to get frustrated with the kids because they were very cranky and overtired but wouldn't lay still enough to fall asleep. landon asked me to hold him, so i sat on the floor and started singing along with his cd while he was on my lap. it's amazing how the Lord times things. the song was "molding a masterpiece" and the phrase that was coming out of my mouth was "urgent matters clamor loudly and the children interfere..." at that point the tears began to well up. i'm so thankful that my gracious God can help me re-focus in such a quiet, soft manner. so often i am not that way with my children.
landon had to sit in the corner today after biting auburn on her arm. 2 hours after the bite-she still had marks.
tonight, the kids thought it would be fun to sit on (try to sit in) their dad's shoes. got a picture-will try to post it this weekend.
gotta go-house is not company ready.

3 August 2005
praise: dave returned from colorado safely. we were sooooo glad to have him back. auburn clapped her hands and said "da-dee" all the way to the airport.
prayer: my ears have yet to clear up. it's been almost two weeks since i went to the dr. (granted, i just finished picking up my prescriptions today.) =(
playfulness: two of auburn's molars have come in in the past two weeks.
auburn has learned to climb up on the couch and living room chair, and she doesn't like anyone to sit with her.
this week is nbt-which means more cleaning for me at the church.
nothing much funny has happened recently (or else i'm too tired to remember). the best thing has been seeing the kids sword fighting with each other. (no, not real swords).
if i remember anything else-i'll blog later.
