praise: we had a good visit with both sets of grandparents this past week. we made the trip to ohio in 4 hours and the trip home in 4 hours. last time we went, it took us 5 hours. my sister's baby will be arriving from korea tomorrow at 3:10. he is on his way right now.
prayer: auburn had a 101 fever this morning. she also got sick last night around 2:30am. needless to say, i didn't get much sleep last night.
playfulness: landon has thoroughly enjoyed some of his presents that he received this weekend. i think we were all spoiled. he has watched his "letter factory" video from uncle derek and amanda many times. he's almost memorized all of the sounds. at lunch he said "the d says "dh"", "d for daddy and dylan and derek".
well, i need to get some things done while she is sleeping and he is being good.

praise: we refinanced today at a quarter of a point lower than our original mortgage. our payments will be much nicer now.
prayer: both kids are still sick, and we leave for ohio tomorrow afternoon. please pray that landon doesn't get car sick on the way down or the return trip on saturday. i think auburn has an ear infection again, so i will be taking her to the doctor tomorrow morning.
playfulness: we opened our gifts on saturday morning. landon has thoroughly enjoyed his play food and register. he carries the ice cream cone and corn cob around almost all day. he loves to hold down a certain button which causes a persistent "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" to be made (which can be quite annoying). not sure how long the batteries will be staying in that toy!
auburn loves to open presents. of course, as soon as she tears a piece of the wrapping paper free, it goes in her mouth.

praise: both kids are fairly healthy. probably the best they've been in over a month. we will be signing papers for our refinance on monday. dave got another website design side job.
prayer: that the children will stay healthy.
playfulness: landon started carrying a potato around the house yesterday. so far it has been an egg, a lemon, a phone, a potato, a "pem-pem" (who knows that that is), and a few other things. been quite interesting.
yesterday, landon's friend dylan came over. they are definitely growing up. unfortunately, this also brings with it the ability to get each other into trouble. i found landon with marker on his face and hands yesterday. he admitted to getting into them, but then said "dylan did it". that was just one of many instances where one of them did something and the other followed. overall though, they play quite well together.

praise: the kids have slept in later than usual the past two days.
prayer: dave had only one hour of sleep last night. his paper is due today at 4 and it is not quite ready yet.
playfulness: this morning, landon was putting his alphabet books in order on his shelf and telling me what some of them were for. when he reached the v, i expected him to say "violin" like usual, but today he said "v is for vandervort." i was shocked. i had mentioned it other times, but he had never said the whole word before.

praise: we just had our house appraised and it was appraised significantly higher than we paid for it. as a result, we are refinancing at a lower rate and are able to get rid of the private mortgage insurance. this is something we have been working toward and praying for since we moved in a year and a half ago. my friend amber is expecting the beginning of june.
prayer: pray that the paper work moves quickly and everything runs smoothly. auburn has an ear infection and is on an antibiotic for nine more days. the infection explains her lack of interest in food. now that it's being treated, she is eating much better.
playfulness: i was in the mood to watch "the sound of music" tonight (a.k.a. the singing show). right at the beginning when maria is running to the abbey, landon said "here come the funny ladies." he was refering to the nuns. he also commented, "the funny ladies are singing." it should be interesting if we ever see a nun in person!
i put a braid in auburn's hair today. it stood up straight, about 2 1/2 inches tall, 1/4 inch in diameter. pretty funny looking. =)
i need to get moving, tonight is bath night.

praise: we were able to have a fan put in our bathroom over the weekend.
prayer: auburn has had a bunch of red bumps on her face recently, specifically around her mouth and under her eyes. hopefully, the doctor will be able to give me some ideas what to do about it tomorrow. she is also having a hard time adjusting to eating baby food-doesn't seem to like any of it.
playfulness: landon is afraid of the fan in the bathroom. he runs away whenever we turn it on.
friday night, landon and his cousins spent the night at my parents' house. my mom ended up holding him until 11:30ish because he wouldn't stop talking! i wonder where he got that from.
one of my friends got engaged over thanksgiving, with the wedding date set for March 5th. after her wedding, all of ladies who were bridesmaids in our wedding will be married.
