praise: landon enjoyed his first day of school-and i didn't cry when we dropped him off!
prayer: landon is battling some allergy issues. because of them-he's not sleeping as well. he was a little weepy tonight-poor sleep and extra activities with school could really do him in!
playfulness: this post will be all about landon today. i do have some other great pics to put up-but who knows when that will happen. if you have facebook-you can see some of them there.
we started out the day with dave and landon going to get krispy kreme donuts. landon is in the afternoon class, so he was able to play some this morning before he had to get ready to head out the door. we've had to adjust our daily schedule some. usually we have lunch at noon-but landon's class starts at 12:15-so lunch had to jump an hour. anyway...the first few pics are obvious. of course, landon still has a difficult time looking at the camera and smiling at the same time.
getting out at school...
heading into the building...i don't think he looks like a kindergartener here-what do you think?
landon and his friend bryce. they ended up being together at the orange table in class. landon said they played at recess to-i guess they played vampires-nice.
into the chapel for "roll-call" and "kindergarten line-up".
daddy was able to capture a good smile.
this is the smile i got...
mrs. hubbard calling the students up to the line.
landon, trevor sherf and gracie wright. i went to high school with trevor's and gracie's dads. they were a year ahead of me. it's fun to see them all in school together.
here's the whole class (there are 12 in the morning and 12 in the afternoon). okay, left to right, mrs. hubbard, trinity, caleb, ?, bryce, luke, pearson, mya/bella (not sure who is which one), alice, landon, trevor and gracie. i went through elementary and high school with trinity's mom, luke's
dad and mom were my youth pastor/wife, and pearson's mom went to school
with me (5 years ahead of me) and also was my voice teacher in college.
this class is a great class. i'm really looking forward to this year.
they also took a silly face shot...
trevor was banging on landon's backpack the whole way out.
you can see landon's smile in this picture if you look closely. he never looked back once they started toward the door.
dave picked landon up after school and took him to wendy's for a treat. landon was very excited about his purple smelly sticker inside his folder. he also pointed out the "walkathon" on his calendar of events as soon as i pulled it out of his folder. sooo....if any of you are interested in sponsoring him....let me know! =) i guess he told dave about the discipline system quite quickly in their conversation at wendy's. dave and i both thought that was funny. of course, his favorite part was recess. here's a pic of landon coming home.
according to landon, mrs. hubbard told them before they left "i hope you all come back tomorrow, because i don't want to be here all alone." landon said he responded "of course, we're going to come back." we have no idea if he said it aloud, or in his head, but it was funny either way. she told dave and i that her biggest jobs of the day were going to be getting the kids to leave their supplies at school, and convincing them to come back. no problem with landon on the second one! actually, he was fine with the first one, too. we had prepped him to leave his stuff (since his cousin had a hard time leaving her tennis shoes when she went to kindergarten).
each of the students received a certificate today. (i actually got a good smile!)
the next pic is of landon talking to his friend, lydia. she and her family moved to kentucky last year so her dad could get his doctorate. when they come back in a year/two years, she will be in his class. he was filling her in on all of the fun of the day. (the vampires and such....)
totally unrelated to school: while landon was talking to lydia, he told her that his dad was going to get the materials to fix his bunk bed, and that he had been waiting a million years for them! he looks good for his age!
anway...all in all, it was a successful day.
