big game on saturday

so here it comes. the game most of us have been waiting for. . .and the one i keep hearing spoken of as the preview of the national championship game. so many locals are saying that if michigan wins by 3 points or less, they should play osu again for the national title. 2 points and then i'll drop the topic for now.

1) do you really think the bcs will allow 2 teams from the same conference to play in a national title game (especially when one of those teams will have a loss at the end of this week)? i think that since they are all about money, they can't afford to be limited to one conference for the big game. the only possible way i see this happening is if the game goes into double or triple overtime and a frenzy of sponsors beg for the rematch.

2) if michigan beats osu in ohio, what would be the big draw to see another showdown on a neutral field? if osu doesn't win it at home, i don't believe they deserve to be in the championship game. even if they were to go and defeat the wolverines, the "series" would be a tie.

and what is the deal with the championship game taking place on the 8th of january? don't they know that school is back in session and people are back to work from the holidays? some have suggested that this is to prepare the way for a tournament in the future. perhaps this is true. . . but i would rather see the first round of bowl games (which would include the first round of the tournament - best 8 teams) take place the week of Christmas and then the second round of the tournament could be on new year's day and then the final game could be the following week. this would keep the bowls in place and should cause most fans some closure to the season (instead of complaining about their shot at the title).

new poll

many thanks to the genius that voted 300 times that the tigers would not be the 3rd detroit team to have a great season and choke in the end. you made me very happy. . .since, in fact, the tigers did choke. granted, they made it to the world series within 2 years of tying the worst season record. that says a lot about the management and players. however, they peaked too early. . .as did the other detoit teams (red wings and pistons) and didn't have what it takes to make it all the way.

so, the new poll is asking if the university of michigan will be the 4th michigan team to have a great season and then choke in the end. to be frank, i was a little nervous early on in the season that the bucks wouldn't make it this far as #1 and i also thought michigan had the stuff to beat us this year, but lately, it has been osu dominating and u of m barely beating some teams that they should've blown out. without super mario, they aren't much of an offensive threat. the sad news is that usually in the final game, the better team doesn't have the advantage. . .so watch out osu. what is even more sad is that osu won't have the opportunity of beating michigan twice in the same season since there will probably be 2 other undefeated teams in contention for the 2nd slot of the national championship game.
