so here it comes. the game most of us have been waiting for. . .and the one i keep hearing spoken of as the preview of the national championship game. so many locals are saying that if michigan wins by 3 points or less, they should play osu again for the national title. 2 points and then i'll drop the topic for now.
1) do you really think the bcs will allow 2 teams from the same conference to play in a national title game (especially when one of those teams will have a loss at the end of this week)? i think that since they are all about money, they can't afford to be limited to one conference for the big game. the only possible way i see this happening is if the game goes into double or triple overtime and a frenzy of sponsors beg for the rematch.
2) if michigan beats osu in ohio, what would be the big draw to see another showdown on a neutral field? if osu doesn't win it at home, i don't believe they deserve to be in the championship game. even if they were to go and defeat the wolverines, the "series" would be a tie.
and what is the deal with the championship game taking place on the 8th of january? don't they know that school is back in session and people are back to work from the holidays? some have suggested that this is to prepare the way for a tournament in the future. perhaps this is true. . . but i would rather see the first round of bowl games (which would include the first round of the tournament - best 8 teams) take place the week of Christmas and then the second round of the tournament could be on new year's day and then the final game could be the following week. this would keep the bowls in place and should cause most fans some closure to the season (instead of complaining about their shot at the title).
more later. . .
peace and java
