the warrior child came with me to ohio this past weekend. a man's trip to say the least. . .but by saturday he was missing his mom. . .as was i.
didn't get much done for my mom as i was chasing after the little booger, changing diapers, bathing him, etc. (ok, i know i take for granted that the wife does this with 2 kids every day. . .so no reminders needed), but it was an enjoyable visit. saturday night as he was getting his bath, it was apparent that we had no bath toys. so we improvised with a blue soap dish (which changed into a snake and then morphed into a frog). thinking i was funny, i put it on his back and told him the frog was on his back. he pretended to be amused by this, but after the 3rd round of nightmares that night i realized it was a mistake to pull such a stunt so late at night. lesson learned. every time he woke up he was upset that his mother wasn't there and the 2nd time he woke up he told me he didn't want to sleep in the frog bed anymore.
the ride home was a lot of fun as well. after 20 minutes on the road, i pulled over to the shoulder to let him toss his cookies. (fyi this is the first incident of this kind to take place in the "new" van) again we were both missing mom.
a rather humorous thing happened the other morning that made me proud of my son. i don't have time tonight to tell the story, but you can read it on the wife's blog (http://www.daveandnic.com/nicblog/?view=plink&id=183).
more later. . .
peace and java
